"You're terminated"
Former California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is the new host of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice.
Schwarzenegger will be replacing Donald Trump who hosted the show for seven seasons before departing to run for the Republican presidential nomination. The show raised $15 million for charity, according to a press release.
“We are thrilled to be opening a powerful new chapter in the story of the ‘Apprentice’ franchise,” Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment said in a statement. “Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves. It was Arnold’s personal passion for the format that Mark Burnett and Donald Trump built over the last decade, as well as his fresh take on how to take it to new heights for today’s audiences, that made him the man to hire.”
During the show, celebrities work on teams to win challenges, often working long hours to meet deadlines. The goal is to raise money for charity. Contestants are “fired” until there is only one contestant left. The show will return to the network for the 2016-17 season.
Donald Trump responded to the announcement over Twitter by congratulating Schwarzenegger.
